Beautifully written Mishti! Some things I can relate with and others I could visualize through the words.. keep writing! I wish I could write half as well... :)
You are write so well “I can’t define the place I love, but I can tell you about the feeling I love”. This line sums up everything about the sentiments all us NYC romantics harbor. Like I always tell your parents and Shubham/ Khushi, you guys are an inspiring family. Be blessed.
Loved it as always. You sketch very well too. There is a flow in your writing that doesn’t let you stop till you’ve finished reading the entire piece. God bless you Mishti!
Wonderful article, nice photos. Especially liked the bit about searching for the first apartment you lived in NY. Look forward to a post about the mountain town in Colorado.
Mishti, the beauty of your writing is that you creat a mental image in the readers mind of a certain movement, you carry the reader along with you. One can feel the emotions you portray without lagging behind....but by moving constantly with you! God bless you!
Chunna, I miss you so much! Come home and we will have dal on the porch <3 Excellent write up as usual. I haven't seen some of these drawings. I specially like the Brooklyn one. Superb work.. as is this picture. Love you..
So many beautiful ideas in here that I relate to as someone who previously lived in NYC. Definitely reminded my why I love the place... especially when I’m so far away and the world is so crazy.
Some of my favorites:
[New York] is the feeling of toeing an easy line between strangerhood and familiarity.
Endless small collisions change people’s collective imaginations.
sog & the city
